The Upper Haight is quintessential San Francisco, the birthplace of the Summer of Love.  Although you won’t find many hippies today, it does not take a whole lot of effort to see their legacy.  Our favorite sights are: the Haight itself from Masonic to Stanyan, Tank Hill at 17th and Clayton and Buena Vista Park at Lyon and Haight.  Tank Hill and BVP are steep climbs; but, you are rewarded with rarely seen spectacular views.  Along the Haight are many restaurants, bars and shops. There are also many restaurants and bars up Cole Street.  Our favorite restaurants are: Magnolia (top brewery and gourmet food), All You Knead (notable sandwiches, omelets, salads, low prices, above par service), Cha Cha Cha (fun decor and atmosphere, flavorful small plates), Burgermeister (exceptional burgers).  Our favorite bars are: Hobson’s Choice (hip popular bar), Gold Cane (mixed crowd, local dive), Kezar Pub (exceptional sports bar) and Kezar Bar (yes there are two Kezars).
